We had our first and only visitor last week! Brooke, Justin's sister came to visit us on her Spring Break. She got here Friday the 4th and flew back out this morning. It was so nice having her stay with us! It brought a little piece of home to TX. El Paso isn't much of a destination vacation, but we managed to keep our days full! Brooke got here at 11pm Friday night and the next Saturday I had to work 10-4, so we didn't do much the first day. On Sunday we went to a Monster Truck Rally!! Oh yeah!
I have never been to a Monster Truck Rally and didn't really understand the races at first, but during the freestyle round, I actually got into it! There was a guy from IN that drove a Lucas Oil truck, so of course, we had to root for him! The most exciting part was the trucks that flipped over, broke or caught on fire! I'd definitely go to another one.
We went to Cielo*Vista mall and did some shopping, we went to Sunland*Park mall to shop at the HUGE Forever*21 they have there, we went to the Outlet mall and of course Justin took her for a few rides on the Harley! We drove through Transmountain Highway to show Brooke the awesome views of the mountains/city and I did get a few photos of that.
This is a view of the mountains as we're driving up the road. So pretty!
Another view while the sun was setting.
And this is a picture over-looking the west side of El Paso. This road and mountains are the only pretty things this city has! Justin and I often say how it would be nice to move these mountains to Indiana and put some grass on them!
We also took Brooke to Ft Bliss to show her where Justin works, the PX, the Commissary and all of the other things on post. Of course she had to buy Army/Ft Bliss shirts for the parents and she got our niece a mini-pt shirt! Between all the running around and showing of the few things we have here in El Paso we also just relaxed and hung around the apartment. When family is visiting, sometimes it's just nice to hang out, relax and talk!
Now that Brooke is gone, we go back to our same old routines. I actually have 32.5 hours this week (!) so that will keep me busy, but next week I go back down to 18 hours and will be lonely without Brooke here to keep me company during the day. Luckily, Justin goes back to morning PT so he'll have more time to spend at home in the evenings.
