Rant

I was reading through Twitter last night and came across an article about Gov Mike Huckabee slamming Natalie Portman's pregnancy. He said, "Most single moms are very poor, uneducated, can't get a job, and if it weren't for government assistance, their kids would be starving to death and never have health care," he said. "And that's the story that we're not seeing." This has to be the most ignorant comment I've read in quite some time! My Mom was a single mother who worked her ass off for me. She wasn't poor, she had 2 jobs and we were never on government assistance. She is educated and I never starved or wanted for anything! I had a great childhood and sometimes I think I turned out better than my peers who were raised by 2 parents. Just because 2 people are married doesn't mean they automatically make good parents. How many times do we read about married people in the news who abuse their children or worse?? All of the single mothers I know are amazing women who work their ass off their kids and I salute them! Mike Huckabee will NOT be getting a vote from me. JERK!
