Day 5- Your Siblings

Day 5 of the blogging challenge is about your siblings. Well, I am my Mom and Dad's only child. My Dad had a daughter with his 2nd wife, so I have a half-sister Anna Marie.

My Sister just turned 18 and is finishing her senior year in high school at Jeff High School. My Sister is very smart, she's always gotten straight A's all through school and school has always come easy to her. She's actually taking her senior year classes online and will graduate from Jeff a semester early. Then she plans to work and save money before she goes to college to study Nutrition. I'm so proud of her and I know she'll do great!
Since Marie is my only "blood" sibling, I'm going to write about my in-laws as well! I have 2 Sisters-in-Law and a Brother-in-Law. My Sister-in-Law Brooke is 19 and is in her freshman year at Ball State studying to go to Nursing school. Brooke and I have a really good relationship and always have since I first met Justin's family.

My Brother-in-Law is Justin's step-brother Bryce. I'm not really close with Bryce but I do know he is a hard worker and a great Dad! Bryce is married to Sharon (my other Sister-in-Law) and together they have my niece, Hailey. Sharon and I aren't that close either. She was a stay at home mom, but now that Hailey's getting older she started a new job at Target. All of my In-Laws live in Anderson, IN. I must say, I'm pretty lucky to have such a fun family and great siblings!

Oops...Missed A Day

So I forgot to blog yesterday, but I'm making it up for it today. Day 4 of the 30 Day Challenge is about your parents. My parents got divorced when I was about 4 or 5 years old. I don't really remember their divorce, but I remember they remained friends and always got along great when I was growing up. I never felt like I had to choose between one or the other. My Dad remarried when I was probably 8 or 9. He married a woman who's name is Laura and she already had a son that was 6 years younger than me. They also had my sister together, we are 11 years apart. My Dad is so funny, but that corny funny. I used to be like, "Oh Dad..." but now I think his jokes are great! Probably because he reminds me of my Grandpa who I lost about 5 or 6 years ago. My Dad and his 2nd wife got divorced when my sister was probably 2 years old. I don't remember exactly because I was young. He then moved to northwest Indiana and met his 3rd wife. They live in Illinois outside of Chicago. My Dad is very easy to talk to, but growing up he was the disciplinarian and I was always scared of him. Now that I'm older we're great friends and we text each other back and forth all the time!
My Mom has never officially remarried, but she had a couple of serious relationships throughout the last 24 years. My Mom is my best friend in the whole entire world and she's an amazing woman! She's always worked her ass off. She worked a full time job while she went back to school to get a job she would enjoy better. My Mom is a nail technician, that's right, she does nails for a living! My Mom and I usually see each other every day, but since I live in Texas now, we talk on the phone about every day, if not, every other. My Mom was very strict when I was growing up and I was the queen of getting grounded. I had a list of "chores" I had to do when I got home from school to help around the house and right after that was done I had to do my homework. After the housework and homework were done, THEN I could go do things with my friends. This rule was mainly in place in elementary and middle school because once I got to high school I had a job that I went to after school. I used to hate those chores and the homework first rule, but now that Justin and I are starting a family, I think we'll be implementing those same rules with our kids!
My parents are amazing and I wouldn't trade them for anything in the world!

Day 3- Your First Love

So the 3rd day of the challenge is about your first love. Now that I'm 29 and I'm married I know that my husband is the ONE. If you would have asked me in the past I would've told you that I loved at least 2 ex-boyfriends. I do think I loved them, but I wasn't in love with them. My husband is the one that I'm in love with and will spend the rest of my life with. I don't even want to go back and think of those ex boyfriends, they're ex's for a reason. So, my first love is Justin. We've been together for 2 years and 2 months and married for 1 1/2 years. Yes, we got married after being together for 8 months. Hey, when you know, you know! I wouldn't change anything about our relationship. Every hardship we've had has made us stronger and closer. Every time the Army has made us spend time apart, we've grown closer together. You never know how much you love someone and how much they mean to you until you're forced to be apart. The longest we've been apart is 1 year. We got married May 26, 2009 and Justin was sent to Korea June 16, 2009. 3 weeks after we got married. Our entire first year of marriage was spent apart. Thank the Lord for cell phones and web cams! We're finally together again and living in TX. If I were here with any other person I probably wouldn't survive, but it's not so bad because I'm stuck here with him. I can't wait to see what the rest of our lives have in store for us, I'm so excited to be spending it with him though! Here's to LOVE!

Day 2

So, day 2 is supposed to be about the name of your blog. The name of the blog is Tales of an Army Wife. I think it's a pretty self-explanatory name. I started blogging at the same time that I married Justin who was moving to Korea for the Army (as stated in yesterday's entry). There's not much to elaborate on with the name, so with that said, I'll count this as my day 2 entry! Now, I'm off to work from 2-11 to fight the masses of crazy Christmas shoppers!

30 Day Challenge

I never realized how hard it is to keep up with a blog until I started one. My good friend Molly started a blog when she became pregnant with her first daughter and I would harass her all the time for updates (even though I was at her house almost every day)! Then she had her 2nd daughter and was trying to do 2 different blogs at once and decided that was impossible, so she combined them into one blog. I started a blog when Justin PCSed (Permanent Change of Station) to South Korea. I thought it would be a good way for our family and friends to keep up with what was going on in our lives. But, I didn't tell too many people I was blogging, so I had a small amount of readers. I thought once Justin came home and got stationed at Ft Bliss, TX our families could read along with our lives. Well, I stink at blogging! I saw that a facebook friend was trying the 30 Day Challenge so I decided to challenge myself as well!

Day 1- Introduce yourself and 15 interesting facts

My name's Brittany Hise. I am married to an amazing man, Justin and we have the coolest dog ever, a Boston Terrier named Maximo Augustas! We have been married for a year and half (tomorrow)! Our family and friends are amazing and we miss them so much every day!

1. I love being a wife!
2. I just found out I'm pregnant and I can't wait to be a Mommy!
3. I have been in retail and retail management for about 13 years and no matter how hard I try to get out of retail I always end up back at it again. What can I say? I'm good at it!
4. I have had the same best friend since elementary school and couldn't be more thankful for a wonderful friendship!
5. I was born on Friday the 13th
6. Even though I've been out of high school for 10 years, I sometimes wish I would have been more involved in the experience.
7. I wish I would have stuck it out through college and had that "college experience". Some day I may go back to school, but without the partying!
8. I never had a favorite NFL team until I met Justin, now I'm a Steelers fan, STEELER NATION!
9. I have a tattoo on the inside of my right wrist that matches a part of my husband's tattoo on his right arm.
10. I always thought when I left Indiana I'd never look back, but I miss it more than ever!
11. My in-laws ROCK!
12. I have never been in a car accident, but I have managed to get my license suspended twice!
13. I have come to the realization that my partying days are behind, and I'm totally OK with that!
14. I almost died in a canoeing accident and have only been in 1 canoe since. I sat in the middle of my husband and my father-in-law.
15. I just learned how to use flash drives and Excel in the last year and a half. Thank you Best Buy!

Back Home Again In Indiana...

I recently made a trip back to good ol' Lafayette, IN. It was my final trip for this business I've been taking care of with my Mom. I'm glad to say, everything turned out the best possible way, for the scenario in which we were dealt! Whew! That's a lot in one sentence right there! The next time I make a trip home, it will be with Justin and the dog and it will be for relaxing and visiting with friends and family! Just a quick update, but now I must go tend to dinner...

Slacking On My Blogging

Wow! I haven't blogged since May. I don't know if that's because I'm forgetful, I'm busy or my life just isn't that interesting? In May I was trying to upload pictures from my trip to El Paso back in April. It's now September (pretty much October) and we've been living in El Paso since July 9th. A lot has happened in 2 months. Our first week here (literally 7 days) our tires and rims were stolen off of our car and they left it sitting on cinder blocks. I have to admit, the cinder blocks were pretty nice, but still, who does that?! Well after talking to people I've learned it's very common for tires/rims to get stolen. A lot of times they take them to Jaurez, Mexico and sell them.


In August I went back to Indiana for a week long visit and while I was gone Justin called to tell me that someone had stolen the Honda emblem off the back of our car. I don't know what the obsession with Honda's are down here, but this crap is getting old! While I was home I hung out with my favorite Howe ladies and we had dinner at the Japanese Steakhouse (or as Lola calls it, "cook at the table"). I just love those girls!!


It was a nice visit home, but unfortunately, my job at home is not done so I go back Oct 6th. I say unfortunate because I'm ready for the issue to be resolved, but I'm glad I get to see my Mama again!

That covers July and August... In September we were invited to go to an Army banquet! The Hubby and I got a chance to get all dolled up and rub elbows with some very important Army people and some retired Army gentlemen that work at Raytheon. If you don't know about Raytheon, it'd be a great place for Justin to work post-Army! Here we are looking sophisticated:


And finally, the Hubby-man bought a brand new 2011 Harley Davidson Street Bob!!
