A Look Back...2010

Justin and I were talking about how we felt about 2010 the other day and we decided it was a shitty year, highlighted with some good things. I know, that sounds very pessimistic, but that's just how this last year felt.

January was a fun month full of birthday parties! All of my close friend's daughter's have birthdays in January, so I got to go to a lot of fun parties and buy little girl things for gifts! I blogged about all of the parties HERE.

In April my Mom and I flew to El Paso, TX to do some apartment hunting before Justin and I actually moved here. My Mom and I haven't been on a girl's only vacation since I was in middle school, so a little get away was fun and MUCH needed for both of us! I remember how we thought all of the houses had rocks for yards and it was so weird. Of course now that we live here we're used to it!

In May Justin and I celebrated our 1 year wedding anniversary. Unfortunately Justin was still in Korea so we weren't actually together for our anniversary, but he came home in the middle of June! After being apart for an entire year and only getting to see each other on Skype, I had my husband back!
When Justin got home we celebrated our 1 year anniversary by staying in a suite at a nice hotel in Indy and going to PF Chang's for dinner. We LOVE PF Chang's! Justin's sister also graduated in June and I was able to attend her ceremony and then they saved the open house for when Justin got home so he could celebrate with his "little" sister!

(Justin celebrating the graduation with a shot!)

Since we didn't have a "traditional wedding" we decided to have a reception when Justin got home so that our friends and family could celebrate our marriage with us. I'm so thankful to my wonderful family and friends for helping me get everything done so quickly and make the party a huge success!
Our dessert table! Candy bar, mini-cupcakes, chocolate fountain!
 My special helper-girl, Lola!
 Tables for the guests
 Our "head table"
Pictures of the proposal, a picture frame for people to sign instead of a guest book, and of course, an H!
Mom, Aunt Tammy, Kayla, and Kristyl making the kitchen amazing! They all helped so much!
My wonderful husband and I!

July 6th we hit the road for El Paso, TX. Justin is stationed at Ft Bliss which is located 1 1/2 miles from the Juarez, MX border. At first we were a little nervous about how safe we were going to feel, but luckily I chose an apartment on the east side which is further from the border. After being in El Paso for 1 week (yes, 7 days) we had our tires and rims stolen. Justin was leaving for work around 6 am when he came back into the apartment to tell me our tires were gone. I was so confused so I got up to look for myself and saw this...
I mean, at least they were nice enough to put the car under cinder blocks?? This is where my hatred from EP comes from! Shortly after this Justin was almost car jacked. I say almost because when the guy came to the window Justin was able to scare him off.

I came back home to Indiana in October for a court hearing. Back in December 2009 my Mom was involved in a domestic situation. The man she had been with for 11 1/2 years tried to kill her. I never blogged about it because I wanted to wait out the trial and see how things would go. Luckily for us, he plead guilty and was sentenced to 7 1/2 years in jail and the last 6 mos on probation. I'll let you read the dockets HERE for yourself. There was some fun in my trip home though. I got to see the Howe ladies and have dinner at Asahi!
Lola, myself, Molly and Annabelle

Shortly after I got back from Indiana, Justin was invited to a banquet dinner to honor important Army people. This was my first time getting all gussied up to go to an official Army event! I must say, we clean up pretty nice!

Justin also bought a brand new Harley in October! A 2011 Dyna Streetbob!

Towards the end of the year is when things get a little crappy for us. We found out in the middle of November that I was pregnant, but found out about 7 weeks later that I had a miscarriage. Luckily for us we were able to go back to Indiana for almost 2 weeks for Christmas! Family time is just what we needed to get us through this incredibly hard time. Here are some pic from Christmas...
Lola (and her Mom and Sister) was able to meet us for lunch at Don Pablo's!
Cousins on Christmas Eve: Justin, myself, Mikayla, Kayla, Kelsey, Macy, CJ
 Mr and Mrs Hise
Christmas tree at the In-Laws house!
Our silly dog wrapped up in a towel!
Cousins on Christmas Day: Sydney, Rileigh and myself!
Annabelle and I at Bruno's for dinner!

We wrapped up our vacation with a 2 day drive back to Texas. We left Lafayette on December 30th and drove to the Missouri/Oklahoma border before deciding to stop for the night. The next day (New Year's Eve) we hammered out the last leg of the drive back to El Paso. When we finally got in town we stopped at the grocery store and bought a bottle of champagne and went through the drive thru for food. We came home, ate dinner, watched the ball drop in New Jersey (had to see Snooki!), kissed each other and drank a glass of champagne. Since we're in the Mountain Time Zone it was only 10pm, but we were so tired we were happy to go to bed! I hope everyone had a wonderful and safe New Year's and that 2011 finds you happy, healthy and peaceful!
